For those of you who have been wondering how Mrs. Mullen has been
faring with the Statewide teaching award that she was nominated for:
She is one of the 17 finalists out of about a 100 teachers, but won't
find out if she won for about two weeks.  For those of you who have no
clue what I am talking about, you can read the story I wrote about her at

Some Things Never Change....

By Terri McPherson

When I was about ten-years-old, I spotted a mouse running across our
living room floor. My four younger siblings heard me screeching at the top of
my lungs and joined me on the couch, where my father found us standing,
yelling and pointing.

Dad grabbed a broom and chased that mouse all over the place. We followed
him in hot pursuit, cheering him on, "Get it, Dad. Get it!"

Finally, the mouse was corned, but when Dad pushed the broom into it, the
mouse let out a little squeal. All five of us jumped our father. We pulled at
his arms and legs, "Don't hurt him. Let him go!"

Dad dropped his head in defeat. He pulled the broom away and the mouse
scampered off. "Run," we yelled. "Run."

My father looked at us like we'd turned into a brood of numskulls. He bought
a trap the next day.

Ray, my husband, and I live in the country. Our garage is kept free of field mice
by our outdoor cat, Snickers. Her mother was a great mouser and taught her
baby well.

I was in the garage the other day, when a mouse ran across the floor. I froze.
Snickers was sleeping in her bed, so I whispered her name to get her attention.
She had the mouse in a nanosecond.

Then.... I heard the squeal. "Let it go," I yelled. When she refused, I ran into
the house to get my husband.

"Snickers has mouse!"

"Good."

"No. You've got to save it!"

"I've got to what?"

I watched through a crack in the door as my husband donned a pair of work
gloves, took the mouse out of the cat's mouth, walked it out to the field, and
let go. When he came back, he bent down to pet the cat and told her she was
a good girl for catching the mouse.

Opening the door all the way, I thanked him. Both my husband and the cat looked
up at me. They had a familiar look on their faces. I'd seen that look before. It was
the same one my father had on his face, all those years ago....

REQUESTS:
From: MsgrnThum1@cs.com

I have a daughter in her thirties that is in very bad financial need. The problem is she does not seem to want to do anything to help herself. It seems she wants to sit back and blame everyone and everthing for the situation she is in except herself. Last night she told me she had fussed at GOD for these problems. I said that is not good.
For a long time I have talked to her and tried to get her to go to church with me, but she make no move to do anything. My prayers are being answered, but I need help. Would all of you pray with me and help me to lead my daughter in the right way which is to Christ and he will supply all her needs. Not all her wants, but her needs.
She does not drink or do drugs which I am thankful, but she has to lean on someone to be able to supply her needs and right now she doesn't even have that, not even her children to help her.
Sincerely
msgrnthum1@cs.com

From: angelwings5266@nc.rr.com (Lori Herridge)

I would like to ask for prayer for my sister Robin and her baby Tyler.
I don't feel to go into details, the Lord knows the situation.
I just ask that you lift her up and ask the Lord to give her the strength she needs to do what He asks her to do, and the open ears to hear him.
Thank you.

Thought For The Day:

"A wise man sometimes changes his mind, but a fool never." -

Verse for the Day:

"The way of a fool seems right to him, but a wise man listens to advice."
Proverbs 12:15

Kid's Thought For The Day:

"My husband and I took our two-year-old daughter to the home-improvement store.
Madison got tired of walking, so my husband let her ride on his shoulders.  As
he walked, Madison began pulling his hair.  Although he asked her to stop several
times, she kept on.  Getting annoyed, he scolded, "Madison!  Stop that!"
"But, Daddy," she replied, "I'm just trying to get my gum back."

Parent's Thought For The Day:

"I looked on child-rearing not only as a work of love and duty but as a profession
that was fully as interesting and challenging as any honorable profession in the
world and one that demanded the best that I could bring it." - Rose Kennedy

Coach's Thought For The Day:

"The principle is competing against yourself. It’s about self-improvement, about
being better than you were the day before." - Steve Young

Deep Thought For The Day:

"Electricity can be dangerous. My nephew tried to stick a penny into a plug.
Whoever said a penny doesn't go far didn't see him shoot across that floor.
I told him he was grounded."

"I thought of you first after my family sat down to watch the video we gave
them. They loved it, to say the least!  Within thirty seconds my mom was
crying and my dad did too.  They said it was the best Christmas gift we could
have given them!!  You did such a beautiful job!  They were so surprised and so
touched---they really, really, really loved it.  Thanks for helping to make it so
special to us all.  My mom mentioned how the songs were perfect for the
video too!  Thanks again!"
