Since we had a story from Becky Holloway, I thought it would be
appropriate to run this letter that I received from Mary Carol Devey.
I found this to be extremely sweet and wanted to share it with everyone!

Dear Michael,
     Today I sat down to write a story to you--about you--and a
friendship I have with Becky Holloway because of you. You will see
why I love this wonderful lady (she is young enough to be my daughter)
but the Lord has connected us in such a beautiful way it is really
hard to explain.

Thank you again for your coming into my life every day.
Mary Carol Devey

INTERNET CONNECTION

Dear Michael:

Last fall sometime a friend forwarded your page to me and I asked to
be on your mailing list. I started looking forward to it each day as
this contraption we all call a computer had become my newest best
friend. I am 67 years old (and only type with 2 fingers) and my
husband and I had just moved to a new area and I didn't have any
friends that I could just talk to--or go to lunch with -- or just
laugh with. I would even go to the grocery store just so I could
talk to someone. Do I sound desperate--I was?

I love your Kids Thought for the Day--Being a child at heart (not age)
it was good to start the day with a giggle.

Noticing the prayer requests you print, it became a regular thing for
me to pray for those requests. I love the Lord and He loves to hear
from His children. (even old ones) Sometimes the requests for prayer
are so heartfelt that the only response is to get to my knees. Since
that isn't easy for me to do I'll laugh and tell the Lord "OK Lord I'm
on my knees now" Praise God He understands this because I know He
always hears me as I cry out to Him.

Then there was the time I had a prayer request and sent it to you just
before Thanksgiving last year. The request was for my granddaughter
(age 12) who has had many heart surgeries and needed to go back up to
Mayo in Rochester, MN for another check up. After that request was
sent out several of your readers sent me very nice notes of prayer and
encouragement.

God gave me the nudge to do the same and encourage others who send you
requests for prayer for their loved ones.

One such request came from Becky Holloway. Her brother was waiting
for a lung transplant. My heart broke for her and her brother as she
asked for prayer for her brother. I wrote to her and put into my note
to her how God had answered many prayers for my grandchild that I was
sure that he would hear and answer prayers for her brother also. (By
now the Lord is very used to my voice) And oh yes Becky's brother is
now home--and can whistle and take walks.

That was awhile back and now each day when I get on this machine I
look for a note from Becky. You see God in His great love and mercy
has given me another friend.
It isn't nearly as lonely anymore as it was when we moved to this new
location. The word says He will never leave us or forsake us. This is
true. And here in this new city that I now live in He has given me a
delight I never expected. Her name is Becky.

Thanks Michael for being that conduit that brought us together.

Blessings to you and yours.

A little bit about Mary:

First I am a Christian that loves and leans on the Lord. Next I am
67 years old, a wife of 47+ years, a mother of 2 grown children
(40 and 28) that I am very proud of, and a grandmother of 2 girls
(ages 12 and 14) that I absolutely adore. I have two cats--a tabby
aptly named Trouble and a blue point Siamese named Ming Too. I enjoy
making count cross stitch samplers and have a collection of porcelain
dolls that I made before our move to the Quad Cities. And the kitchen
is the hardest room in the house for me to be in.
