THE LAST WALTZ
by: Kate Askew (Pen name for Beryl Richardson)
It was just a sweet little distraction,
Just a short moment in time.
There was never a chance
When he asked me to dance
That this lovely young man would be mine.
He was tall, he was dark, he was handsome.
We smiled; let our bodies entwine,
We waltzed round and around
Hardly touching the ground
Was there ever a feeling so fine?
He told me that I was so special
That my movements were simply divine,
I looked up, with a grin,
Offered "thank you’s" to him
He said "grandma, the pleasure is mine!"

A little bit about Beryl:
I am English, very English I am told (although I have never quite worked out
what that means), and I live in Derbyshire, which is right in the center of
the country. The village I live in is only around 20 miles from the one
where I was brought up. I was 50 last month and I made a conscious decision
to leave a career in banking five years ago, go to University, and set
off on a new road. I now work as a practice manager for a group of
doctors, and I love it. My greatest achievement, however, is without
doubt my 21 year old daughter, who is named Victoria, and who is the
shining light of my life. I have been writing stories and verse all
my life. Sharing it with others though is very new to me.

Love Letter
By: Corky Ferguson
"I love you"...shout them, write them, or whisper them softly...
just three little words you say, but, mean the world to me.
I never want one day to pass that I don't hear them from you.
I love you too, and ...
...I PROMISE ...
to be with you each night
watching it slip into each new day
the sun brings the promise
of my devotion in every way
to watch the days
blend into years
being the keeper of your dreams
the conqueror of your fears
to have you feel the passion
only hearts in love can feel
from this moment on
proving my love is real
I will give my love freely
in everything we do
spending the rest of my lifetime
whispering words of love to you
no more broken hearts
or unhappy memories
never any fallen tears
where smiles should be.

A little bit about Corky:
I live in a very small country community in Ohio.
I have a passion for many things including my family, animals,
friends, sunrises and sunsets, music, photography, and the love of
pretty words. I write from the heart and am happy to share my hopes,
dreams, and feelings. I feel we all need a place to dream and escape
and that is how I chose the name of Dream Escapes for my writing.

"I thought of you first after my family sat down to watch the video
we gave them. They loved it, to say the least! Within thirty
seconds my mom was crying and my dad did too. They said it was
the best Christmas gift we could have given them!! You did such
a beautiful job! They were so suprised and so touched---they
really, really, really loved it. Thanks for helping to make it so
special to us all. My mom mentioned how the songs were perfect for
the video too! Thanks again!"
